FEB UNIDA INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC EXCHANGE DAY 3

Malacca, Malaysia. July 5th 2024.

1. International Collaboration

Visiting UiTM Malacca Malaysia, we were welcomed at the University Hall to hear each party explain their intention and collaboration opportunities. The first session was UiTM Malaysia, which offers some collaboration. Matching grant joint research offered by UiTM, which program demands equal funding from parties involved to conduct research and Scopus publication, becomes the output of this program. Student mobility, such as UiTM students visiting Universitas Djuanda for some short courses or cultural exchange programs and Universitas Djuanda doing the same by sending their students to UiTM, becomes another collaboration opportunity that both parties can conduct. Furthermore, UiTM will have an online international innovation competition in the next few months. UiTM offers a co-host scheme to Universitas Djuanda by sending 10 participants to the competition. Overall, UiTM welcomes collaboration opportunities that can benefit both parties and enhance the academic quality of each institution. On the next session, the ASEAN Academic Forum, on behalf of Universitas Djuanda, was delighted with the offer and ready to prepare everything needed to manifest the collaboration. ASEAN Academic Forum also offers lecturers academic exchange not only for educational purposes but also for the institution’s global recognition.

Outcome: Universitas Djuanda will follow up on all the collaboration opportunities UiTM offers. In the meantime, since students in both universities are still having final exams, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Djuanda will carry on the collaboration practice in the new academic term; there are student innovation competitions and lecturer-student exchanges. Professor Ts Dr. Shafinar Hj Islamil is a Professor of Finance from UiTM Mara Kampus Bandaraya Melaka who will be approached soon to have a concrete collaboration.

 

2. International Community Service

An observation for data collection was conducted with Pertubuhan Profesional Tanah Malaysia. An organization that managed waqf assets and land waqf governance in Malaysia, especially Kuala Lumpur. Waqf is managed under each state authority in Malaysia. Malaysia has nine states: Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Pulai Pinang, Selangor, Terengganu, Wil. Federal Kuala Lumpur, Wil. Federal Putrajaya, Sabah, Serawak, Wil. Federal Labuan. From the data obtained in this community service session, there are two subjects to further community service: How can we optimize waqf land? And what are the legal aspects of utilizing waqf land? Therefore, for the further program of community service, the Faculty of Economic and Business Universitas Djuanda can conduct several programs such as Assisting Nadzir Waqf to improve their capacity, especially managing cash waqf; Giving a workshop on Professional Ethics, Accounting, Law, and Management, etc.

Outcome: International community service was successfully conducted, and comprehensive data regarding the suitable program for the community service partner was. Further collaboration will be arranged for students and lecturers to do community service with the members of Pertubuhan Profesional Tanah Malaysia.
